Description:

The project was aimed at offering opportunities in the field of traveling, volunteering, education, the exchange of intercultural experience and generating income for older people in ten EU countries (Greece, Italy, Finland, Germany, Portugal, Cyprus, Estonia, Slovakia, Poland and the Czech Republic) by establishing and promoting „Over 55s without frontiers” networks. The members of the network, who were trained in planning journeys, prepared proposals of journey programs, which were tested by colleagues from other countries during their visit. Together they also issued a travel guide with specific information for older people, as well as information about options of low-cost travel, in order to increase mobility in the EU and to support social integration and active participation. The best participants were trained as senior trainers.

The activities of the project took place in all ten participating countries. Information about the project was published online, in newsletters and at conferences on both national and European level. Overall, more than 60 people participated in the project. An NGO dedicated to this issue, Dobré roky 50, was established in Slovakia.
